Week 17 |
The early game saw the Omegas beat the Flyers 6-2.
The Omegas got out of the gate quick and found themselves up 2-0 in the first five minutes. They held this lead until the Flyers countered with two of their own in the last four minutes of the first period. This turned out to be all that the Flyers could muster.
The Omegas scored two more in the second period & two more again in the third.
Dave Giffen is the Player of the Game. He led the way for the Omegas - scoring two goals and an assist.
The Stars continued their push for a playoff spot by beating the Cattle Barons 8-3 in the middle game.
They got on the scoreboard in the first minute of the game, and went into the second period holding a 2-1 lead. The second was all Stars, scoring five goals. The Cattle Barons scored a couple in the third period, but it wasn't enough at that point.
On any other night, Dale Moesker's hat-trick would be enough to earn him the Player of the Game, but he will have to settle for honourable mention. The Player of the Game in this one is Jason Hotke. He scored the first four goals for the Stars & added two assists later in the game.
The late game saw the Hawks clinch first overall with a 5-1 victory over the IceDogs.
The IceDogs got on the scoreboard first and held a 1-0 lead after the first period. Unfortunately for them, the Hawks owned the rest of the game.
By the end of the second period, the Hawks came back to hold a 4-1 lead. After scoring one more in the third, they cruised to victory.
Calvin Pelleboer, Rob Nutma, Kyle Huizinga, & Dave VanOostveen all had a three point game for the Hawks. We'll let all four players share the Player of the Game honours.
