Week 16 |
In this week's early game, the Crusaders beat the Cougars 9-3. It was a good point night for some of the Crusaders. Adrian Roelands scored twice and added two assists. Duncan Vanderwal scored a goal and got four assists. Steve DeBoer scored a goal and got two assists. Ryan Benjamins scored twice and got one assist. One of this week's co-winners of Player of the Week goes to Matt DeBoer who scored a hat-trick and added an assist.
The middle game was the first tied game in our league all season. Joel VanVeller of the Flyers scored the game tieing goal with 1:40 left in the third. Nobody was able to score in overtime, so the score ended up 2-2. Both Rick Jones of the Flyers and Risser Wierenga of the Stars each played great and kept their teams in the game.
The late game saw the Hawks upset the first place Omegas by beating them 5-2. Perrin Berg and Zack VanReenen each got a goal and assist for the Omegas, while Herb Zylstra Sr. assisted on both goals. Dave VanOostveen of the Hawks was the other co-winner of Player of the Week. He scored a hat-trick and got an assist, while Jack Huizinga got a goal and assisted on all three of Dave's goals.
With this victory, the Hawks have clinched a playoff spot and thus eliminated the Stars and Cougars from being in the playoffs.
