New Scorekeeper Needed

Posted Fri Jun 11, 2010 - 05:54 AM

Hope everyone is enjoying the off-season.

Our Scorekeeper from the last four or five seasons (Kelsey Klazinga) will not be coming back, so we need to find a new scorekeeper for this up-coming season. The duties include running the score clock and filling out the game stats on the scoresheets. This needs to be done neatly and accurately. The League pays $50.00 / night for the regular season (8:00pm until midnight) and $20.00 / game for the playoffs.
Please send me an e-mail if you know of any candidates for this position.

Finals -Game 2

Posted Mon Apr 12, 2010 - 01:15 PM

Congratulations to the Omegas for winning their second consecutive League Championship! This was the fifth time in the last eight years that the Omegas have won the Case Schouten Memorial Trophy.

The Omegas swept the final series by beating the Crusaders 6-3 in the game played on April 2. After a wild first period, the teams found themselves tied at 3-3. The Omegas scored twice on the power-play in the second period and never looked back. Joe VanReenen scored two goals and added two assists in the victory. Normally this would be enough of a performance to earn the Player of the Game honours, but the obvious choice for this was the Omegas' veteran Rick Anjema who stole the show by scoring four goals in the game. This matches Rick's entire regular season goal scoring total. Way to go, Rick!

Finals -Game 1

Posted Mon Mar 29, 2010 - 01:42 PM

This year's Finals is a matchup of the two most recent champions for our league.
Last season's champions, the Omegas were able to get the upper hand in the series by beating the Crusaders 7-3 in the first game of the series. The Omegas came out of the gate by scoring four times by the end of the first period. Chad VanReenen earns the Player of the Game honours by scoring the first three goals for the Omegas. Both Fred VanReenen and Joe VanReenen each scored two goals and an assist for the Omegas. Steve DeBoer scored twice in the Crusaders' loss.

Semi-Finals -Game 3

Posted Mon Mar 29, 2010 - 01:27 PM

In the early game on Friday night, the Omegas earned their spot in the Finals by beating the Flyers 5-2. Without their top scorer, Kev Karelsen, the Flyers found themselves down 4-1 going in to the second period. With an early goal in the second period by Matt Kreeft, the Flyers seemed to get a bit of a lift, and the game tightened up. The Flyers gave it all they had in the third period. They hit a post and a crossbar, but were unable to get another goal. Omegas' Seth Hellinga shut the door and is the Player of the Game.

The Hawks ended their streak of being in the finals, by falling to the Crusaders in game three by the score of 5-1. Jordan DeBoer scored twice in the Crusaders' win. Steve DeBoer scored a hat-trick and is the Player of the Game. Matt DeBoer assisted on three of the goals.
