Week 16 |
This is the summary for the games that were played on Friday, February 6th:
The early game saw the Hawks beat the Stars 5-4 in overtime.
The Hawks got off to a good start and held a 3-1 lead after the first period. The Stars came back in the second and the teams went into the third period tied up at 3-3. The third period went scoreless until the Stars scored what looked like might be the game winner with 2:20 to go in the third. This feeling was short lived because the Hawks scored 22 seconds later to send the game to overtime, where they scored the game winner.
Once again, Chris Helps led the Stars in scoring. He scored three goals and an assist in the game. However, we'll give the Player of the Game to Dave Vanoostveen. Dave scored the tying goal and the game winner in overtime for the Hawks. Both goals were beauties.
The middle game between the Omegas & Ice Dogs saw the Omegas win it 3-0.
The Omegas scored one goal in each period. Lance Ross had three points for the Omegas, but the Player of the Game is Mike Ward. Filling in as a substitute goalie for the Omegas, Mike earned the very first shut-out of the season for any of our league's goalies.
In the late game, the Flyers came away with a 7-5 win over the Cattle Barons.
This was a pretty even game the whole way through. The teams were tied 2-2 after the first period. The Flyers held a 5-4 lead after two. After each team scored one more in the third, another goal by the Flyers with just over a minute to go sealed their victory.
Matt VanMarum is the Player of the Game in this one. He had a five point game for the Flyers.
