This is the summary of the games that were played on Friday, November 21st.

The hottest team in our league lately has been the Cattle Barons. They continued on their march to the top of the standings by beating the Omegas 5-2 in the early game.
They held a 2-0 lead after the first period. The Omegas made a game of it by scoring twice in the second period, bringing the score to 3-2 going into the third.
The Cattle Barons regained control of the game in the third by scoring two more.
For the second week in a row, Steve Pastoor gets the nod for the Player of the Game.

The middle game between the Stars & Ice Dogs was a real barn burner, and fittingly, ended in a 5-5 tie.
It was an even game the whole way through with the teams trading the lead.
Matt Tamminga & Jordan Deboer each had three points for the Ice Dogs. Chris Helps, once again, led the Stars with four points, but we'll give the Player of the Game to Phil Nywening. He scored twice for the Ice Dogs.

As mentioned in a previous post, the late game that was scheduled between the Hawks & Flyers was postponed due to the glass being broken in warmups.

This is the summary for the games that were played on Friday, November 14th.

The early game saw the Stars beat the Hawks 5-4.
The Hawks looked in control early on and held a 4-1 lead going into the third period. That's when the Stars started their comeback.
The Stars scored two goals in the first half of the third to bring it to within a goal. With just over a minute to go in the third, the Stars took advantage of a powerplay and tied it up at 4-4. The game looked destined for overtime, but the Stars stunned the Hawks by scoring the game winner with only nine seconds to go in the third.
Chris Helps had three points in the Stars' comeback, but we'll give the Player of the Game to Curt Moesker. Curt also had a three point game, including scoring the game winner.

The Cattle Barons flexed their muscles by beating the Flyers 6-1 in the middle game.
They held a 3-0 lead after the first, and a 6-0 lead after two. The Flyers foiled Steve Pastoor's bid for a shutout with less than three minutes to go in the third. Even though he missed out on getting the first shutout of the season for any of our league's goaltenders, Steve still gets the nod for the Player of the Game in this one.

The late game between the Omegas & Ice Dogs saw the Ice Dogs come away with a 6-4 victory.
The Ice Dogs looked like they were going to run away with this one. They held a 3-0 lead after the first, and a 5-1 lead after two.
The Omegas started to come back in the third by scoring three goals to bring the score to 5-4. The Ice Dogs were able to seal the deal with an empty-netter in the last minute.
Matt Tamminga & Jordan Deboer each had three points for the Ice Dogs. They will share the Player of the Game for their efforts.

This is the summary of the games that were played on November 7th.

In the early game, the Hawks beat the IceDogs 7-6.
The Hawks came flying out of the gates, and held a 5-1 lead after the first period. The IceDogs started to turn the game around in the second and found themselves down by two going into the third.
The third period was back-and-forth. The IceDogs pulled their goalie and scored one in the final minute to bring it to within a goal. However, that was as close as it came with the Hawks hanging on for the win.
Dave Vanoostveen, Duncan Vanderwal, Matt Tamminga, & Jordan Deboer each had three points in the game. We'll let these four players share the Player of the Game honours.

After winning the first three games of the season, the Stars have now lost three in a row. This time losing 4-1 to the Cattle Barons in the middle game.
The ice was tilted in this one. The Cattle Barons scored the only two goals in the first period. The Stars scored the lone goal in the second, and the Cattle Barons scored the only two goals again in the third.
Rick Jones, filling in as a substitute goalie for the Cattle Barons, gets the Player of the Game in this one. He put up a solid effort, only allowing one goal against.

The late game between the Flyers & Omegas saw the Omegas go home with a 10-8 victory.
The first period was a wild one. The teams were scoring goals in bunches and, when the smoke cleared, the Omegas held a 5-4 lead going into the second. The score was 7-5 for the Omegas after two periods.
Early in the third period, Flyers goaltender, Rick Jones went down awkwardly and hurt his knee pretty bad. He was unable to continue and the Flyers were forced to play with an empty net for the remainder of the game.
Mark Zylstra had a hat-trick for the Omegas. Zach VanReenen had four assists for the Omegas. We'll let Lance Ross of the Omegas & Kev Karelsen of the Flyers share the Player of the Game in this one. Each of them had five points in the game.

On behalf of the League, we all wish Rick Jones a speedy recovery from his injury.

I've been getting behind in updating this website lately, but I promise that I'll get 'er caught up in the next week or so.
It's been pretty cool to see how many people have been asking me about it. That tells me that I'm not just doing it for my own entertainment.

As I'm sure most of you are aware, the late game between the Hawks & Flyers that was originally scheduled for last Friday (November 21st) was postponed due to a "glass breakage" during warm-ups of the game. I don't want to embarrass anyone, so I won't say who did it. On a TOTALLY unrelated story - Dave Vanoostveen has a hard shot! ;)
Anyways, the game has been re-scheduled for Saturday, December 20, 2014. The game will be played at 8:00pm in the Point Edward Arena.
I'm sorry if this conflicts with anyone's schedule, but its hard to please everyone.
